A brand that created an entire category

In 2007, beauty therapist and industry pioneer Maria Enna-Cocciolone coined the term Cosmedics, introducing an entirely new category in skincare. Not cosmetics, not pharmaceutical, but something in between: cosmedical. In 2010 she launched O Cosmedics as the world's first cosmedical skincare brand, exclusively for the professional beauty industry.

Why O Cosmedics is different

There are four things that set O Cosmedics apart from other brands on the market.

• —Functional dosages that genuinely work — Many brands contain active ingredients, but in concentrations so low that they have hardly any effect. O Cosmedics formulates with functional dosages: high enough to genuinely influence the skin at a cellular level, never more than the skin can handle.
• —Made in its own facility in Sydney — O Cosmedics produces all of its products in its own manufacturing facility in Sydney. That means complete control over what goes into each product, including the exact dosages of active ingredients stated on the packaging.
• —Corneotherapy as the foundation — O Cosmedics works from corneotherapy: repairing and strengthening the skin barrier as the starting point for every skin improvement. No aggressive techniques that force the skin, but smart ingredients that the skin recognises and that support it.
• —Biomimetic formulations and encapsulation — Ingredients are biomimetic; they resemble the skin's own substances, so the skin absorbs and recognises them well. Many actives are delivered in encapsulated form: deeper, more controlled and with less risk of irritation.

The Core Four

Four proven active ingredients recur throughout virtually the entire range and form the foundation of every treatment and home-care protocol.

All of these ingredients are used in effective concentrations and complement one another, so in-clinic treatment and home care reinforce each other.

Working from skin condition

Within O Cosmedics, one question is central: what does this skin need right now?

The skin condition always determines the starting point. An irritated or barrier-compromised skin responds differently to actives than a stable skin. The same applies to choosing a hydrator: always think in terms of skin health versus skin condition.

Working with O Cosmedics means working in three phases, aligned with the state of the skin.

Always start with the essentials: the products that form the skin's foundation and make the biggest difference. When advising on home care, you focus not only on what's needed now, but also give the client insight into what will follow later.

Two treatment methods

Alongside home care, O Cosmedics works with two professional treatment lines that complement each other. Which one you use depends on what the skin needs at that moment.

Pro Dermal Active (PDA)

The PDA treatments focus on skin function itself: stimulating lymph flow, improving microcirculation and activating cell communication. A skin that doesn't function well recovers more slowly, reacts more sensitively to actives and benefits less from peels. The PDA is therefore the starting point for an irritated, reactive or over-treated skin, and a valuable interim step or recovery moment within a more intensive protocol.

Pro Dermal Planning (PDP)

The PDP peels work on the epidermis and focus on correction: exfoliation, cell renewal and a targeted approach to concerns such as acne, pigmentation and skin ageing. They are built up step by step in intensity, fully aligned with the skin's tolerance. The PDP is used when the skin is stable and the barrier function is in order. Only then can you correct in a controlled and safe way.

In practice, PDA and PDP work best in combination. First optimise skin function, then take the corrective step. This delivers greater control, fewer complications and more sustainable results.

Retail as an extension of the treatment

At O Cosmedics, retail is not a side issue — it is an integral part of the treatment concept. In-clinic treatments activate the skin; home care provides continuity and results. Because both work from the same actives and philosophy, you strengthen your own results as a practitioner and keep direction over the process.
